Access group in Outlook and Teams

Avatar

As part of building a Teams phone system, a Microsoft 365 group will be created with assigned owner/s and member/s. The purpose of this group is to be the recipient of the voicemail messages left by the caller. Normally, the builder will name the group as Shared Voicemail and email address is named after it (ex. sample@sample.onmicrosoft.com), unless customer requested a different name.

There are 2 ways to access the group.

  • Outlook app or Outlook on the web
    • Upon the addition of a user as owner or member of the group, email similar to the screenshot will be sent to the user's email address.
    • To view the mailbox of the group, click on View group in Outlook or select Go to new Groups.

  • Teams app or Teams on the web
    • Upon the addition of a user as owner or member of the group, a notification will appear in Activity similar to the screenshot below.
    • Then click on Teams to see the group.
